In this Gokarna travel guide, I’ll be listing down all the things you can do and the places you can go to without having to spend a lot.

After reading this article, you’ll be the first one to suggest going for a Gokarna trip plan.

When someone mentions a vacation, the first thing that springs to mind is a beach. When someone mentions a beach, there are usually just two options: Goa or Pondicherry. However, very few people are aware of the town of Gokarna, which is located on India's western coast. And in recent times, Gokarna travel has become a really popular thing to do. It's a fantastic holiday location because of its clean, less crowded beaches and Gokarna beach walk. This Gokarna travel guide will teach you all you need to know about the city, including how to make the total Gokarna trip cost lesser than 2,500 Rs for a Gokarna 3 days trip!

HISTORY OF GOKARNA

The name Gokarna is derived from the terms Gau and Karn (cow's ear), and it is claimed that Lord Shiva appeared here at the ear-shaped confluence of rivers Aghanashini and Gangavali from the ear of a cow (mother Earth). According to legend, Lord Ganapati tricked Ravana into allowing Lord Shiva's Atmalinga to be kept on the ground here, thereby making Gokarna a hallowed site with Shiva linga temples.

For many years, Gokarna was a centre for Brahmin religious study and devotion, with Sanskrit knowledge passed down through the centuries. Hindu pilgrims came to offer final rites and rituals for the departed at this spot. Since the late 1900s and early 2000s, an inflow of international tourists has transformed Gokarna into a stoner's paradise, with a more active and dynamic nightlife.

Gokarna is a fascinating destination to visit because of the dramatic contrast of cultures and the blending of holy sites and hippy vibes. It has plenty to offer pilgrims, tourists, and travellers alike, which makes the Gokarna trip plan a whole lot better and enjoyable!

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME FOR A GOKARNA 3 DAYS TRIP?

The months following the Monsoon, from September to March, are the finest months to visit Gokarna. However, as Gokarna has become more well-known in recent years, you may be able to attract a large audience. The months of April through June are hot, but they draw fewer tourists, and they might be a good way to save money during the offseason for either a solo trip to Gokarna or with your partner and friends!

HOW TO GET TO GOKARNA

Buses and trains go frequently to Gokarna. The latter is not an option due to the time commitment. However, if you plan to visit Gokarna for three days, the train is the best way to travel at least from one side. you can book a few days in advance, the bus fare generally varies from Rs 600 to 700 (sleeper, prices from Bangalore). There are KSRTC buses that cost approximately Rs 500 and have many seats, since our Gokarna trip package is less than 2,500, we suggest choosing this option. Buses usually arrive late at night, and you arrive in Gokarna early in the morning. And now you have kickstarted your Gokarna trip plan!

WHAT CAN YOU DO IN GOKARNA?

When you get in Gokarna by 8 a.m., the bus generally drops you off at one of two locations, and this is the beginning of your Gokarna 3 days trip! If you arrive at the Gokarna checkpoint, do not turn left towards Kudle Beach because it is a longer path. Then continue walking straight; the town is about 1km away. It would cost you at least Rs200 to take an auto to the town or the beach.

However, getting to the beaches is simpler if you get off at the major bus station in the town's centre. Take the bus to the beaches instead of the auto since it will cost you Rs 100 for a single kilometre, to save on further costs on your Gokarna trip plan. Instead, going for a morning stroll is a fantastic idea. You may rent a scootie for Rs 300 if you don't want to complete the Gokarna beach hike.

WHERE SHOULD I STAY?

The scenery will take your breath away as soon as you walk down to the Kudle beach. Staying in Gokarna is never a problem until everyone is on vacation. You might stay in one of Kudle's beach shacks or one of the hostels along the road to Kudle Beach. They are priced between Rs 400 and Rs 600 per person, so your Gokarna trip package should be planned well. The location appeared to be respectable and safe for ladies, making this Gokarna trip plan great for women as well!

The Gokarna beach walk connects all of Gokarna's principal beaches and the town. Food will cost you another 100 Rs. In this place, so make sure you keep that in mind in your Gokarna trip plan.

The zostel and hostel Lavie, which is on the route to Kudle beach, is another alternative I recommend. Women are safe in Zostel, but I haven't heard much about hostel life. However, because it is within the budget, I am suggesting it here.

KUDLE BEACH

In the evening, you can go for a swim at the Kudle beach and then stay on the beach to watch one of the most beautiful sunsets ever. One of the greatest things to do in Gokarna, in my opinion, is to watch the sunset, so make sure you include this in your Gokarna trip plan! Supper can be had at the nearby La Pizzeria Café, which can cost around Rs. 200.

BEACH TREK

The trek is approximately 6 kilometres long. Gokarna beach, Kudle beach, OM beach, half-moon beach, and Paradise beach are all within 1-1.5km of this trek's starting point. Carry plenty of water to stay hydrated. This can also be called a Gokarna backpacking trip/trek. The hike begins at the end of Kudle Beach, where you will find steps leading to the other side of the cliff. If you wouldn't want to trek, you could perhaps consider taking an auto or taxi, but that wouldn’t be half as fun in your Gokarna trip plan, so make sure you don’t miss out!

HALF MOON BEACH

The beach is named after the shape of a half-moon. On this beach, there will be very few people. Because the beach is so small, it feels like a private beach with few or no other people. Rice paddy fields can be found just behind the half-moon beach. Because there are two cafes on this beach, you can eat lunch there. They serve some excellent bread omelette, the total lunch can be expected to rise to Rs 150, so keep that in mind in your Gokarna trip plan.

PARADISE BEACH

The beaches are divided into two sections by a large rock in the middle. Only two local vendors are selling fruits here. If you're lucky, you might even be able to locate someone to make you an omelette. One of the most popular things to do in Gokarna is to visit the beautiful beach, so keep in mind to keep this activity in your Gokarna trip plan.

You can cover all these activities within 3 days and with the aforementioned activities, the Gokarna trip plan is sure to cost lesser than Rs. 2500. We wish you happy travelling and we hope we have your planning a tad easier!
